かわいい粒々レッドあまり馴染みのない名前のお石ですが、透明な水晶の中に赤い点々（エピドートの結晶）が散りばめられたかわいい石です。
普通エピドートは緑色の石なのですが、微量元素としてマンガンが作用すると、ピンク色に発色します。それがピンクエピドート。
ピンクエピドートの主な産出はアフリカ、なので「アフリカンストロベリークォーツ」などと呼ばれます。じっさい、ストロベリークオーツと見分けが難しいほど似ていますが、両者は別の石なのです。
言い伝えによれば、ピンクエピドートは、愛情や希望を表すとされ、恋愛の石として重用されたと言います。恋のお守りになるかも知れませんね。
